On September 15, 2024 we held a wonderful Celebration of Life for Lisa Brewer…NYCSD Member, Webmaster and Race Committee stalwart. The celebration was attended by Lisa's family, friends and fellow Yacht Club members. She was loved by many and will be missed.
It was with great sadness that on May 5th, we said goodbye to Navy Yacht Club San Diego’s Honorary member Lisa Brewer. Lisa was a vital part of our Race Committee for many years, as our time and score keeper. To help the racers she created a race information board we use on the Race Committee boat to communicate with the racers. Lisa was also our webmaster maintaining our web presence.
Outside of our club, Lisa was a volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Team. She also volunteered on the race committee for Cortez Racing Association.
In addition to making a mark in our community, she helped many of our club's members with her amazing seamstress skills, making various coverings to help protect their boats as well as making the cover for our club's chairs. You could always count on her craft as an artesian to brighten up any event she participated in, creating themed costumes.
In life she was always a caring, giving and generous person; to continue on her lifelong passion, at her passing and in keeping with her wishes, she gave the gift of life to others. As many as 33 of her friends and family, as well as numerous hospital staff, lined the halls of the La Jolla Scripps Hospital for her Walk of Honor as she made her final journey.
We will miss her beautiful smile, great humor and her camaraderie.
Rest in peace Lisa.
