With rain and all, we had an outstanding 60th Opening Day. If you missed it, you missed a great time! The Muddy Rudder Award was amazing, a definite highlight that many attendees will remember the roars of laughter for years to come. Our Port Captain Curt Snyder presented a stellar and humorous speech and awarded it to our Fleet Captain Bram Arnold, but not before announcing 3 other possible contenders for the award. Bram’s graceful and unexpected acceptance speech was best in show.
Our lunch provided by Leilani’s Cafe in Pacific Beach was delightful and tasty. We had all our
Staff Commodores in attendance pass out champagne in our 60th anniversary commemorative champagne flutes for a toast, (a special thank you to Staff Commodore Bill Edwards). The Navy Band Southwest did a fantastic job with the music. Coronado High School’s Navy Jr Reserve Officer Training Corp carried our colors with pride and professionalism.
